Mens rea & Actus reus

Two fundamental elements, which must be present in any crime, and proven to be so present, are the 'mens rea' (the guilty mind) and the 'actus reus' (the guilty act). The guilty mind is essentially the intent to cause the result and the guilty act is the conduct or circumstance leading to the result. Proof of the guilty act and the guilty mind is required in all crimes.
